Portscatho Fish Festival

Portscatho Fish Festival

Portscatho, as with much of Cornwall, has a strong fishing history with large Pilchard fleets operating out of the village harbour during the 18th & 19th century. Today there is still very much a sense of fishing with several boats operating from the village.

To celebrate this strong connection with fishing, past and present, Portscatho now holds a Fish Festival during the summer months, with the first 'Portscatho Fish Festival' held on August 3rd 2013.

The festival is intended to be a fun day for all the family, with perhaps a little bit of education for those who are less familiar with the sea, fishing and sea creatures! Investigating the fisherman's catch is a must for curious little ones!

The day involves all the necessaries for a fun day out, fishing & crabbing competitions, musical bands, numerous games and of course lots to eat and drink with paella cooking by The Hidden Hut.

The Portscatho Fish Festival began in 2013 and should prove to be a successful annual event for years to come.
